Sessions & Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the best way to prepare for an in home child/newborn session?
-
Since I prefer to shoot in natural light, it would be best to have furniture moved, so your best windows and natural light sources are not blocked. I will shoot all over your house and we will shoot outside it weather permits.
For newborns it is best to raise the temperature in your house slightly, because we will be shooting most of the shots in minimal clothing. Try to keep them awake and unfed 2 hours prior to the shoot. Right before the shoot we will strip them down and feed them to sleep. We will take as many feeding and changing breaks as needed. For older babies and children, make sure they are fed and well rested prior to the shoot.
- What is the best time to photograph my newborn?
-
The best age to photograph a newborn is within the first 2 weeks of life. This way they are still small and nimble enough to bend into cute poses, and they sleep most of the time.
- When is the best time to schedule my maternity portraits?
-
That is very dependent on the person, but I generally suggest between 28 and 36 weeks.
